Five Minute Marketing: 15 Ideas for Social Media Posts

Ideas for Social Media Posts

When you have to post content to social media every.single.day, it can feel completely overwhelming - and it’s easy to run out of ideas. I know this firsthand - besides my own social media channels, at the present moment, I am managing content for 9 different businesses and all their profiles and pages! There are days when I’m just out of ideas, and it’s hard to find good, creative, compelling content to post on Facebook, Instagram, and everywhere in between.

So, in case you’re running out of options and need ideas to post on social media, here are 15 quick ideas for social media posts. Enjoy!

1) About You - share a quirky fact or personal insight along with a photo of yourself.
2) About Your Business - share how old your business is and why it got started in the first place along with a picture highlighting what you do or well.
3) About Your Family - talk about who is in your family (parents, siblings, spouses, kids, and even pets!) and why they are important to you and your business. A family photo is always a winner!
4) Your Hobbies - people want to know about more than just your business and what you have to offer. What do you do in your spare time and why?
5) A Struggle - past or present struggles make you relatable to your audience because after all, everyone is going through something and they want to know they are not alone!
6) A Piece of Advice - as a business owner, you know something about your product or service that most other people don’t! Share something interesting or helpful that your audience may otherwise not know.
7) New Discoveries - did you find a new store? An app that makes life easier? Something amazing on Amazon. Share that knowledge with your followers!
8) Holidays and Special Days - there are so many holidays and special days you can talk about, from Christmas to Mother’s Day. There are also a whole lot of quirky celebrations out there (National Watermelon Day, anyone?!) that can spark an idea on a day when you really need one!
9) What You’re Reading/Watching - find a great book? Discover a new show on Netflix? I guarantee you that someone will get excited about what you’re reading and watching. Better yet - ask for advice on what to read or watch next. This always gets a great response!
10) Favorite Quotes - find a quote that is compelling and talk about why it means so much to you.
11) Upcoming/Past Vacations - even if you don’t have an amazing trip coming up, you can talk about a fun vacation you’ve taken or an upcoming day trip. Ask your audience for new vacation ideas and let the comments roll in!
12) Highlight Another Business - is there another business you admire? Someone you’ve worked with in the past (or want to work with in the future)? Talk about why you love their business so much and reap the added rewards of networking on social media!
13) Share Helpful Resources - have you learned a lot from an article, podcast, or book? Share what you learned and where you learned it from so others can take advantage as well.
14) Non-Business Fun - what are you doing on the weekends? How do you relax? Are you shopping at a local farmer’s market this Saturday? Or did you get to sleep in for once? Talk about who you are outside of business and what it looks like when you’re not working.
15) Ask a Question - there’s no better way to get engagement than to ask your followers for their advice. This could be about ANYTHING - new recipes, weekend activities, restaurants/coffee shops to try…the list is endless. Then engage by responding to their comments and, as a bonus, you may just get some new ideas for yourself!

Whew, that’s quite the list in just a few minutes! I hope it gives you inspiration as you think about what to post on social media and takes your engagement to the next level! Until next time!
