How My Business Pivoted in the Pandemic

As I've started to reflect on the last few months and what changes have happened, my initial thought was that nothing really changed in my business. After all, I run my business entirely online, and even local client communication is done via email and phone calls - so what did I even have to change?

Despite that fact, I actually did need to pivot my business in a few different ways, and when I started to really dig in I was surprised at all the things I changed to not only stay afloat, but keep moving forward. Here's what I did:

1) I dove into online community head-first. Though it may seem counter-intuitive to talk about community (and yes, I'm tired of Zoom meetings, too!) I made sure to stay consistent in the places where I was already involved, from a weekly mastermind to a monthly networking group.

2) I changed the way I used Instagram stories. I realized quickly that, personally, I started getting on social media more than ever to distract me from day-to-day monotony and life. It didn't take long for me to apply that to my own business. I went outside the box, tried some new things on Instastories, and started ramping up engagement as a result.

3) I doubled down on video. Have you noticed that many of my new blogs have been accompanied by a YouTube video? Even though a few of my marketing clients had to pause services for very understandable reasons, I knew I could do something with the extra time I had on my hands, so I started making more video than ever. I re-purposed the video on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, my blog, and in my email newsletter list so I could get the maximum benefit…and I have been loving it!

There’s one more thing I did to pivot during the pandemic, and it involved swallowing my pride and reversing a decision I made months ago. Watch the video to find out what it was and learn from how I changed during a very not-normal time.
